Impromptu is an Amsterdam-based improv theatre collective with a difference: every member also improvises on several musical
instruments. They accompany long-form improvised theatre pieces with sound, song and live, collaboratively improvised music, giving
their improv performances a unique style and an added depth and emotional intensity.
Impromptu is a group of improv actors who are also musicians. Or was it the other way around? Anyway, they improvise as easily
with music as with text. The result? An extraordinary performance in which music itself plays a life-sized role. Now supportive, now
questioning, now independent. Impromptu takes a few audience suggestions and turns them into a multilayered, coherent performance.
Story, song, dance, musical interludes, soundscapes, movement, abstract vocal accompaniment... there's nothing quite like Impromptu.
